Account Director

As an Account Director, you will:

  • Write and agree account plans and manage accounts on a monthly basis to meet these goals.
  • Own client revenue targets and proactively drive client revenue, providing financial intelligence such as forecasting and pipelines, profitability and investment (where appropriate) reporting these to the Head of Client Services.
  • Work proactively with all levels of seniority within the clients’ teams to help develop their businesses.
  • Build, establish and secure ongoing relationships with senior points of contact/decision makers.
  • Proactively seek and create new business opportunities within your clients.
  • Hold internal and external client reviews on a regular basis.
  • Proactively deliver ideas and solutions to help improve the clients’ businesses. Identify and plan opportunities for your accounts.
  • Gather and define client business objectives and requirements and translate that into recommendations.
  • Be able to take briefs from clients, explore and challenge them based on previous experience to inject your own thoughts and opinions to help achieve the optimum outcome.
  • Be the voice of the client within the agency ensuring that all briefs are delivered on spec.
  • React where client’s requirements change, providing and defining solutions to best suit their needs.
  • Confidently and proactively explore solutions with your clients that will meet / exceed their commercial objectives / KPIs, using data to address factors that will drive this for them (e.g. user experience, conversion, ROI etc).
  • Independently build and maintain key client relationships.
  • Handle multiple accounts simultaneously.
  • Proactively suggest and implement ideas to help improve relationships with clients.
  • Work with and act as a mentor to junior members of the team.
  • Whilst there is not currently the expectation to line manage a team, you will be expected to be a role model to more junior members of the team, demonstrating a consistent high level of service to the clients, whilst being passionate about the work undertaken – a real ambassador for the agency.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a natural communicator who is great with people, able to develop trust and confidence across both your client contacts and your account teams.
  • You will be driven, strategic, experimental, have an eye for detail, a team player, and be knowledgeable of new and emerging trends.
  • Have 5+ years’ experience within another agency (marketing, design or creative agency).
  • Have a positive approach and the ability to adapt to changes, you will work well within a dynamic team, meeting deadlines and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Be solution focused with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Be a motivated, self-starter with a strong work ethic who can oversee projects through from start to finish.
  • Have the ability to prioritise your own workload and multi-task in a busy, pressurised environment whilst maintaining the highest level of attention to detail.
  • Understand the urgency of goal achievement.
  • Have experience of large, complex accounts.
  • Have experience and proven track record of relationship management.
  • Have experience and proven track record of protecting, growing and nurturing clients.
  • Have strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
  • Be able to take the lead and assume full responsibility for the service that the agency provides.
  • Have outstanding written and verbal communication.
  • Possess strong negotiation skills.
