Commercial Director

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Director to add value to our growth activities by identifying and managing new commercial opportunities and relationships with clients, suppliers and other stakeholders.

Who we’re looking for

Working closely with the board, shareholders and senior teams, we're looking for someone to implement a robust commercial framework that supports and sustains the growth of the business. You’ll be confident, diplomatic and organised in working collaboratively with a number of teams within the agency. You will provide strategic advice to upper management, focusing on commercial, contractual and financial strategies.

A Typical Day

There’s no such thing as a typical day in an agency like Eastside Co, which is why we all love it so much. But whatever you’re working on, you’ll be expected to:

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies, understanding company goals and aiming to accelerate growth
  • Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, business development etc.)
  • Understand the requirements of existing customers to ensure their needs are being met
  • Maximise cash flow through invoicing clients and paying suppliers
  • Taking the commercial lead with clients directly to identify and resolve variations from the contract deliverables
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with clients, suppliers and other stakeholders
  • Provide insight into commercial contracts, ensuring that any contractual risks are identified
  • Lead any activity in resolving contractual disputes with clients and suppliers
  • Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for senior management
  • Monitor and analyse submitted proposals (either won or lost) and identify areas for improvement for future submissions
  • To provide support on contract interpretation, negotiation and broader commercial strategies across the agency
  • Assist in setting financial targets and budget development and monitoring
  • Implementing strategies to drive revenue and ultimately business growth
  • Setting and delivering the company plan alongside the board of directors

Your Skills

We’re looking for the best of the best to help us continue our growth. As standard, you’ll be able to show us evidence of the following:

  • Degree or higher in Business Administration or similar
  • At least 5 years experience in a senior commercial role
  • Proven experience as Commercial Director or other relevant role
  • In-depth understanding of market research methods and analysis
  • Strong entrepreneurial skills and a natural ability to spot opportunities for revenue generation
  • Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset
  • Natural leader of people with excellent managerial and motivational skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
