React Developer

East­side Co is an award-win­ning digi­tal design and mar­ket­ing agency which cre ates web­sites and in­nov­at­ive mar­ket­ing strategies for busi­nesses around the globe. We are the lead­ing Shopi­fy ex­perts in e- com­merce web design and digi­tal mar­ket ing in the UK, based in Birm­ing­ham and re­cently opened a Ger­man of­fice.

Role Des­crip­tion

We are look­ing for a great Java­Script de­veloper who is pro­fi­cient with Re­act.js. Your primary fo­cus will be on de­vel­op­ing user in­ter­face com­pon­ents and im­plement­ing them fol­low­ing well-known Re­act.js work­flows (such as Flux or Re­dux).

You will en­sure that these com­pon­ents and the over­all ap­plic­a­tion are ro­bust and easy to main­tain. You will co­ordin­ate with the rest of the team work­ing on dif fer­ent as­pects of the Shopi­fy store. There­fore, a com­mit­ment to col­lab­or­at­ive prob lem solv­ing and qual­ity product is im­port­ant. You will also as­sist in the de­vel­op ment of a new ver­sion of the East­side Co web­site.


  • De­vel­op­ing new user-fa­cing fea­tures us­ing Re­act.js
  • Build­ing re­usable com­pon­ents and front-end lib­rar­ies for fu­ture use
  • Trans­lat­ing designs and wire­frames into high qual­ity code - Op­tim­ising com­pon­ents for max­im­um per­form­ance across all web-cap able devices and browsers
  • Work with oth­er front-end team mem­bers to max­im­ise the po­ten­tial of the new Re­act com­pon­ents avail­able in Shopi­fy 2.0
  • Help build the a new ver­sion of the East­side Co web­site us­ing your Re act and Typescript know­ledge.


  • Strong pro­fi­ciency in Java­Script, in­clud­ing DOM ma­nip­u­la­tion and the Java­Script ob­ject mod­el
  • Front-end skills with CSS to in­ter­pret designs and re­cre­ate them into pixel per­fect store­fronts
  • Thor­ough un­der­stand­ing of Re­act.js and its core prin­ciples - Ex­per­i­ence with pop­u­lar Re­act.js work­flows (such as Flux or Re­dux) - Fa­mili­ar­ity with new­er spe­cific­a­tions of Ecma­Script
  • Ex­per­i­ence with data struc­ture lib­rar­ies (e.g., Im­mut­able.js) - Know­ledge of iso­morph­ic Re­act is a plus
  • Fa­mili­ar­ity with REST­ful APIs
  • Know­ledge of mod­ern au­thor­isa­tion mech­an­isms, such as JSON Web Token
  • Fa­mili­ar­ity with mod­ern front-end build pipelines and tools - Ex­per­i­ence with com­mon front-end de­vel­op­ment tools such as Webpack, NPM, etc.
  • Abil­ity to un­der­stand busi­ness re­quire­ments and trans­late them into tech­nic­al re­quire­ments
  • Fa­mili­ar­ity with Git
